Start by focusing on your honest answer to their question. Make a list of all the reasons you would be successful, then pick a few that make your strongest case to emphasize. Write paragraphs about those top choices. Perhaps write another paragraph that briefly mentions some of the other reasons without going into as much detail as the ones you chose to emphasize. Write a little introduction and a little summary closing paragraph.
If you can not tell from the question itself whether the mean "succeed as a student" or "succeed as a nurse," don't agonize over it. Simply combine them. Choose reasons that would help you succeed in school and afterwards.
Now, stop procrastinating ... and start listing the reasons you will be successful. :typing
I don't think it's inappropriate to mention that you are a CNA, especially if you need to discuss why you'd be successful as a nurse (i.e. being a CNA might have given you more experience working with patients, working under pressure, etc.) I agree with llg that when in doubt you should combine your potential for success as a student and as a nurse. Good luck! :)

Hey guys,
Its about time for me to start applying to every nursing school possible since i finally got a (halfway) decent score on act (after taking it 3 times!!).. at one school, I have to write a short essay about "why I would be successful...".. Im terrible at essays, mostly bc i think to much.. so Im kinda confused on what they are asking really. Are they trying to see if I am really into nursing for the patients and helping people vs the money (which a lot of people do) or are they asking me why I would be successful in completing nursing school? im also a CNA and i would like to throw that in somewhere in the essay, but it might be inappropriate..see what i mean, I guess im thinking to much lol.. im just so lost on where to start!!! please help!
any tips or ideas?
thanks
Summer
