Your questions (and answers) have helped me realize that I am not alone and that there is an abundance of help out there:)
I passed the V.M. course this past fall and have been working toward a med-surg certification for the past couple months. I want to be as prepared as I can be to answer attorney-client questions.
I know now that this will be a challenge and may take quite a while to get the business up and running. But this knowledge has actually taken some of my fears away.
My questions...
1) Any Iowa LNC's out there practicing?
2) Can someone please send me the info on case report software that they can incorporate in the legal notebook?
3) How does one ask for the "Schedule of Fees" from a firm? I am concerned about the new economy and how it will affect pay rates. I don't want to diminish the profession by asking for a low rate, but I don't want to be scoffed at either.
4) What references/books should I start with for my personal library for my Med-Surg Specialty. The list of recommended books seems long and I just want a few, the most applicable.
5) I had emailed two local CLNC's through the directory, but neither replied. Don't know if this is common for the CLNC's to isolate themselves or maybe they had given up/weren't practicing.
6) How far away should I be marketing? I live in Iowa City, where I may be able to find some work, but Chicago is 4 hours away. Wondering how likely it is to tap into the market there eventually.
7) I wound't mind volunteering to get experience, and possibly letters of recommendation. Does anyone do that?
