Sep 2, 201510 yr Feeling called to pray over my workplace.I will go from one desk to the other, praying for each worker. I will pray over the charts for our patients as a whole. I am able to do it when the office is empty.Any thoughts? If you have done this, did you do it alone? What were the results?
Sep 4, 201510 yr Christian as well here. I pray before work that my patients will enter into the next shift after mind in a better state than when they arrived, physically and emotionally. I pray that I am a good team member, a good nurse, and that my judgement is sharp, my actions timely, and my charting accurate. I pray for patience for myself and for my patients. For their healing. I always start my prayer out with thanks and gratitude to God for giving me the strength to have made it to where I am, and the blessing to work where I do. I walk in feeling blessed, and I leave feeling blessed. I realize that all do not believe as I do... that is ok. If someone wants to pray for me to another God, it does not offend me. I appreciate prayers, good thoughts, etc... wherever they come from. And as far as the receptionist that blessed the four corners of the hospital, I might not believe the same way that he does, but I find it touching as well. I truly believe that all who are seeking God and truth will find it, whether they land up in my particular brand of Christianity or not. :)
Sep 5, 201510 yr I have my own religious beliefs. I do not need someone praying over me, esp. since that person may have beliefs that are in conflict with my own.Oh--okay. I can understand that. Thanks.
Sep 5, 201510 yr I personally haven't prayed but I worked in the CVICU and we had a Native American patient that needed open heart. He asked for an was granted a visit from his tribe's Medicine Man. It was a fascinating ceremony and the patient went through with flying colors.
Sep 5, 201510 yr Prayed for the safety of those within it:- when a pt's family member gunned down a doctor in cold blood, and barricaded himself in the pt's room.- recently, during some riots, when the hospital went into lockdown, due to nearby threats of danger. Several nearby buildings were burned including a senior center which burned to the ground. As well as several businesses were looted.
Sep 5, 201510 yr Experts Are you afraid that something may actually happen as a result of a prayer or two? Afraid.....? No, but I would be absolutely astounded if anything actually happened after a prayer.I am genuinely interested in why it bothers you that someone would pray over you.)So if someone offers to pray to Odin or Ra or Zeus, for you, you would be OK with that?
Sep 5, 201510 yr Maybe someone should start a "Christian only" thread. Atheist...stay out and keep your negative comments to yourself. If you want to suffer eternity burning in Hell for not being being a Christ follower, that's your problem. Christians care enough about you to try to save you from that. But if you reject salvation....so be it.
Sep 5, 201510 yr Admin Christians care enough about you to try to save you from that. But if you reject salvation....so be it.I don't reject "salvation". I reject that others can tell me I'm wrong for not believing what they do. That's the great thing about the US and many other countries that don't have a state religion- as long as no one is breaking laws, we're free to believe or not believe what we want. I agree with OCNRN63- I don't want someone praying for me without my knowledge and permission. It's quite possible that their beliefs and prayers are contrary to my beliefs and what I need/want.As for starting a Christian only thread, this is a public message board and as long as TOS is adhered to, posters are free to state what they wish. If you truly want a Christian only thread, perhaps a Christian affiliated message board would be a better place for such discussion.

At least the old testament god let me sleep in peace when I died.
