I am at a loss with an assignment I have. I honestly have an easier time understanding my med surg textbook than I do this! Could someone try to help me out? I would appreciate it so much.
Here's the paragraph.. I have to answer the questions below it. If anyone could at least try to explain what the questions are even asking, that would be wonderful. I can't even understand what they're asking...
"Hypertension affects over 50 million Americans aged 6 and over and is a recognized risk factor for the development of cardiovascular disease. Although few chldren have hypertension or cardiovascular disease, biological and psychosocial risk factors for the development of hypertension in adulthood are estimated to be present in children by the age of 8. With the large number of individuals with hypertension and the progressive nature of cardiovascular disease, it is important to identify and modify risk factors early in life. Although some risk factors are not modifiable, orders, such as anger, anxiety, are more amenable to change. The identification and modification of risk factors at an early age might reduce the incidence of hypertension in adult hood"
I need to answer these questions about that paragraph:
1. Does the report describe an explicit theoretical or conceptual framework for the study? If not, does the absence of a framework detract from the study's significance or its conceptual integration?
2. Does the report adequately describe the major features of the theory or model so that readers can understand the conceptual basis of the study?
3. Is the theory or model appropriate for the research problem? Does the purported link between the problem and the framework seem contrived?
4. Is the theory or model used as the basis for generating hypotheses, or is it used as an organizational or interpretive framework? Was this appropriate? Do the hypotheses (if any) naturally flow from the framework? 5. Are the concepts defined in a way that is consistent with the theory? If there is an intervention, are intervention components consistent with the theory?
6. Did the framework guide the study methods? For example, was the appropriate research tradition used if the study was qualitative? If quantitative, do the operational definitions correspond to the conceptual definitions?
7. Does the researcher tie the study findings back to the framework at the end of the report? Are the findings interpreted within the context of the framework?
ANY assistance or input would be appreciated. It's due on the 6th (tomorrow) at 9 pm.
Thanks for reading and/or trying to help a fellow nursing student out. :)

In order to get started, I am sure you were assigned a chapter that introduces nurse theorist and their models. Read that chapter and really understand the theories and/or models. Next, read the paragraph assigned to you and determine which model/theories best applies. Once those steps are complete, you will be able to quickly answer all of the questions.
