I was wondering if anyone has ever passed out or nearly passed out during clinicals, and if so were there any consequences? The reason I ask is, last night during a procedure at clinical I began to feel nauseous and had to leave the room. I felt as though I was gonna be sick and was on the verge of blacking out before finally sitting down. My skin was extremely clammy and I was breathing heavily. My clinical instructor took my blood pressure and it was extremely low at 80/30. She insisted on calling an ambulance but I declined, as I have experienced episodes like this in the distant past and I've always bounced back. Immediately after last night's episode I drank some orange juice and ate a meatball sub and my blood pressure stabilized, however I was still feeling a bit nauseous.
I'm not sure if my near passing out was due to watching an invasive procedure the first time, being dehydrated and hungry, or being overtired and stressed out. I do know that I am now required medical clearance from my doctor to return to clinicals and I have to meet with the student advisor and dean tomorrow to discuss the situation. Needless to say, I'm a bit nervous. Has anyone else experience anything like this?

I've heard of similar things happening to a few people in my program. If you know you're prone to this kind of thing, you need to take care of yourself and make sure you've had something to eat and drink before watching anything that might bother you.
