sweetmom,
I graduated in 1986, but no longer live in Pa. I have never posted here, so I hope I get this right.
So was it? very complicated? I start in September any advice I am very nervous thank you
It has been so long. I'm sure things have changed alot. The instructors were great. No one liked pharmacology, though. It was all lecturing. I did clinicals at the osteopathic hospital. It has a new name now, I think. I remember the physicians were more willing to teach than the nurses. Now, I realize how stressed they probably were, and we only added to that, I'm sure. So, don't be too sensitive. I remember thinking at the time that school wasn't that hard. I wonder what I would think now? If you ever have an opportunity to work for a good family physician, do so. The pay is usually not so great, hours are good, but the experience is invaluable. I would strongly encourage you to become a RN ASAP. You will have so many more options available to you, not to mention the pay and respect. I have been in nursing 20 years now, and am totally burned out at bedside nursing. I live in a small town, and there are not many options. I am also a single mother. If I haven't found a way to return to school by the time my daughter graduates {4 years}, I will probably leave nursing and go work at Walmart. Nursing is getting more stressful everyday, so take care of yourself. Say NO to double shifts, and take all of your days off. You will not regret it. Good Luck!
Thank you for the advice I am 23 and also a single mother I have a 2 and 4 year old-=) I really do plan on going for my RN in the future.....
Im gonna do my best i know it will be stressful..
