I am BLS/ACLS certified, I have a BSN and I have been working Med/Surg tele for 2 years. Still, how do nurses without GI experience get hired? Thanks in advance!I don't know about the Atlanta area, but in southwestern Ohio, any experience in critical care is considered valuable. Also, being ACLS certified is beneficial. Good luck!
I guess I need clarification. So with no experience in GI, but 2 years in Med/Surg Tele, a BSN and ACLS certification- what specifically do you look for in someone with no GI experience but wants to make that transition.... Thanks!I only had 1.5 years in the NICU when I took a job in a GI facility. If you ever move to Tucson I would consider hiring you.....

I'm trying to change specialty and find a job in the gastro field. My previous and only experience was in NICU for 1 year in a hospital in Atlanta. It was my first job but I got so stressed that I decided to change specialty. I spent a day in a GI lab during College and I liked the environment. I think I will enjoy working in a GI lab, but the jobs available are for nurses with previous experience. Is there any GI training program in the Atlanta area? How did these GI nurses get experience in the field?
