Very discouraged , being that my pharm average was too low, I wasn't able to go to clinicals. Had one week to pull it up, and i studied like crazy , but to no avail it didn't bring it up. Basically had to drop1st semester! Have a positive attitude and applying for fall semester to repeat the process. Anyone else had to go through this ? any experience or thought i'd love to hear about. Thanks

While it feels horrible that you had to drop from 1st semester, consider it a blessing also because you've now had at least "one bite at the apple" so to speak and you have an idea what it will be like again when you return. Think back on this semester and try to figure out what it was that caused you to drop so far that you couldn't pull your grades up. Everyone does learn differently, so perhaps you could spend some time working with your school's student resource center (or whatever it's called) to determine what your learning style is and devise a plan to maximize your learning potential. Don't get me wrong, some things in nursing school almost have to be learned by rote memorization, but much of it is being able to take information you're provided and evaluating it so that you can apply that information to the clinical situation. It's a step up from what you had to do in your prerequisite courses.

This usually isn't an insurmountable problem. Use the time you have to really figure out what contributed to having to drop the course and work on those skills and come back strong!

I had to repeat also because I had to figure things out as well and I'm now almost done with school. This is totally doable, if you do your part. Good luck and good studying!

Thank you so much Akulahawk:). Yes I'm for sure looking at all the positive about it, learning from it and great success will come from the 2nd time around.
