Gwinnett Medical Center

Published

Hello,

I am an ADN nursing student graduating in May 2006 and looking to move to the Buford/Gainesville GA area. Does anyone have any comments on Gwinnett Medical Center. That is one of the hospitals I am looking into. Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks Gina :)

I did a semester of clinical there and really loved it. I worked on the telemetry unit. The staff seemed to work together quite well, and with the exception of one nurse, all of the RN's were helpful to the students. Good luck! I live close to Buford, and spend lots of hours there at the fabulous Mall of GA. Best mall around, and Buford is a great city.

Edited to add: Have you looked into Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville? I have a friend who is a nurse in their NICU, and she really likes it there.

I've heard good things about them. Too bad it's a pretty long drive from my house...

What about Joan Glancy? I don't know much about that hospital, but I really need to start thinking about where I'm going to do my clinicals, and I'd prefer someplace that's close by.

I also did a semester of clinicals at Joan Glancy, my first semester. It's a small, quiet neighboorhood hospital, but it was perfect for my first semester. The pace is not quite so fast, and the nurses are super-helpful and informative.

Thanks for the info

That sounds nice, especially because I'm a bit nervous about clinicals (for me, this will probably be the most challenging part of nursing school). Starting out slow is probably a good thing. Maybe later I can go to a larger, faster-paced hospital.
