Has anyone heard anything about Gulf Coast College in Tampa? They are listed on the Board of Nursing's list of nursing schools for Florida, and they have an LPN program, but I have never heard anything about them one way or the other. I am going to an information session there, but I was just wondering if anyone had any experiences with them.

I am in the LPN program at GCC, and so far so good. Did you ever apply? Are you a current student, in which case, who are you? LOL! john
No, I am looking more at starting school in about a year - I want to keep saving up money because I won't be able to work while I'm in school. How is the program? Is this their first graduationg class or have their been others?
I believe they have already graduated five or so classes. Approval to expand, based on graduate NCLEX pass rates, has just been received. They have a current 85% pass rate. The program is focused on NCLEX, some instructors are better than others, but importantly none have been their more than a year or so, same as management, same as owner. It is a former Webster site. Price is high, 16K, but assuming you apply on time you will have a very short wait or no wait. Each class is currently limited to 24 students, beginning quarterly. I am doing Ok, but I am a respiratory therapist already. A few students struggle, but GCC offers every bit of help possible. They have a business interest in your success. They all know you, it is a friendly place. I would recommend it to someone with 17k, otherwise, Erwin Tech is a fraction of the price, but with the lottery and wait. John
Hold the phone on GCC....staffing has isssues right now..as in arrogant and stupid. Just like the prez.....
OK! I graduated june 26, passed NCLEX three weeks later, and the jobs are abundant. GCC now has RN, and my chair is looking mighty nice.....

So you are currently an RN student at GCC. I hear not so many great things about the school. Its scary when you are trying to get into a good school and the tuition is High. I beleive that if its a good school then you will get your moneys worth. Its scary if you sacrifice your money and time and then the school sucks. i dont know everyone is different but I would like to hear from the students directly..
