Which community college do you think would be best to enter for nursing school. I'm currently at GTCC for prereq classes and I'm applying to nursing school now. If I do happen to get into more than one, which one is best in your opinion?

If anyone can give me some info about these community colleges that would be awesome! I'm trying to figure out where to go now that I've been accepted to GTCC and davidson county community college. I'm still waiting of forsyth tech!

Which one are you closer to? Are you starting the Fall program? I finished my pre-req's at DCCC and have heard they have the better program. I will however be applying to GTCC because of their evening and weekend program that will start in the spring.

I'm about 20 minutes from each of them. That makes my decision that much harder lol

DCCC is accredited by ACEN as well as NCBON

GTCC and Forsyth tech are only accredited by NCBON

Do you know what difference the ACEN accreditation makes? Also, do you know many people apply to the DCCC program?

I don't think it really makes that much of a difference because you will still be eligible to sit for your boards after completing the program. I think it's more or less another notch on their belts. I've known a few nurses to complete their program and had nothing but good things to say. I've heard that GTCC (from current students) had great instructors but the program was unorganized and constantly changing.

That's true! I've heard that GTCC puts out great nurses but also that the instructors aren't the nicest, and also the disorganization. I'm at GTCC now completing my last prereq. When I visited the DCCC campus I swear it was like I walked into another world, everyone was sooo nice!! GTCC is not like that lol!

Just out of curiosity... Do you have any idea how many people apply to DCCCs nursing program?

Now that I don't know. From what I hear its more competitive that Forsyth and GTCC because they discontinued their Advanced Degree Program.

I don't have all of the specifics about the program but I do know that it was geared towards those that already had a degree and offered the classes online. Of course you would have to be present for clinicals.
