GRU Athens Campus Info

U.S.A. Georgia

Published

Hi! I'm applying to GRU this upcoming January for Fall '15 and I was wondering if anyone on this site is either currently or has been a student at the Athens campus and could tell me about your experience there (classes, class size, clinical sites, professors, etc.). I'm sure it is similar to most nursing schools but I haven't really been able to find any information on the Athen campus, just mostly the one for Augusta. Really any information would be helpful. Thank you!!

I have similar questions. Like what is the schedule really like? Applying soon as well for Fall 2015.

I go there now and graduate in may! It's a good school and well respected in GA. Like any nursing school, you have your fair share of headaches, and the load is pretty heavy, but totally do-able. I am a single mom with a toddler and I'm pulling almost all A's. Clinicals are great and they get placements all over the place including egleston, st Mary's, Athens regional, etc. it's also an affordable state school. Athens campus is harder to get into because only 40 or so spaces.

And I will say that having the classes in Athens and Augusta combined sometimes can be confusing, and our little Athens campus seems to be forgotten sometimes but I love the small class we have and it's much more personal and one on one. Augusta has almost 200 students (but they have more "stuff" than we do).... But we have amazing parking and that has been huge! Lol

Haha parking is always a plus! Thank you, this was really helpful, especially about the clinicals. Congrats to you on your graduation in May and also tackling nursing school as a single mom! That is awesome!!
