I have been "Group One'ed". I have also read a dozen or so similar stories on the internet. The common theme is that the system allows individual managers ,through their HR dept, to put you on this 'Black List' for the damnedest of reasons, many quit petty. Considering you will not work at a Member Hosptial, Baylor-Harris-Mansfield etc...it's amazing it goes on in this day. But it does.
I have considered putting up a fight, if not for the hell-of-it, then on priniciple. I would like to get a list of Black listed nurses; family or friends and see if we can get a lawyer interested in a class action suit. Would make a hellofa news story also.
I have emailed the TBN and the TNA, they both offered BS standardized responses. G1 has a loose umbrella of legitimacy through its credit reporting function.
No one I know, knows how the Black List system works entirely. I was told to look for the * next to the institution that screwed you. However, the report G1 sent me was so disorganized and incomplete no employer would ever have been able to make use of it. They sent me half a dozen pages of 'here, now go away.'
I would like to continue this thread into 2011. Pass it around.
My story;
I have been a Nurse since 81' do the math. I have gone from MS thru Open Heart, I predominantly work critical care. I have been the administrator of my own clinic to frequently charge nurse in ICU. I was given a title of night supervisor over ICU at the hospital that Black listed me. I won't give any names but the initials are HCA.
I was always outspoken over staffing issues but was finally asked to leave when I told the administration they were a bunch of 'tight asses' in an email one night after they pulled my nurse, again.
My applications were met with immediate responses for interviews after reading my resume. Baylor, however,continued to turn down my applications claiming they found someone more qualified. Harris SW, the interview went well. The next day I got an email from HR claiming they had filled the position with someone more qualified. More Qualified!
Yet the position remained open for sometime on their website. Occasionally I would reapply throught their online system and recieve no responses at all. Even to emails. Mansfield called to setup their interview the day after I applied, only to call me the day of to cancel it. The girl that called had no idea why.
I am working ICU in an LTAC that doesn't use G1. Fortunately I like working here. Would never have found this place otherwise. Thanx G1.
Group One is only in the DFW area and needs to be made accountable as do the member hospitals that abuse the system. It does not 'weed out' dangerous employees, it is a tool of petty vengence by petty people.
I will post the website against Group One here when I get it going.

I know there are several threads on Group one but can someone give me brief overview? If your name is on the list does it ever go away or does it follow you for the rest of your career?
