Grays Harbor Community College?

U.S.A. Washington

Published

Hi There,

I have been working on my preqs for about a year, and now I am looking for a nursing program to apply to. I live in Olympia and we have South puget sound community college here, but from what I hear you pretty much need a 4.0 to get into the program. I was looking a bit at grays harbor cc. Does anyone have any info about their program? Or how hard it is to get in? Are there any colleges around this area that are easier to get into? I have pretty good grades, 3.4gpa. Any help would be very much appreciated!

Tiara,

Unfortunately, if you're looking at community college in this area you will need close to a 4.0. The other option is BSN. 3.4 could get you into Seattle U or PLU depending on your letters of recommendations and essays. If you have to go the CC route the only one I know of that might be a possiblitly is Everett. Most of the other schools are strict GPA or GPA plus other factoring things such as CNA, previous Bachelors, volunteer hours etc..

Wow really?!?

Thats crazy. Its sooo competitive here. I wish my gpa was higher, but those chemistry courses really get me. Thanks for the info. Have you heard anything about grays harbor community college?

Specializes in Postpartum.

I believe GHCC may be a bit less competitive because of the poor econonmics in that area which also makes it a cheaper place to live. They only have one hospital though so clinicals will be limited. They are about 45 mins SW of Olympia. Another college that has a great rep. and does not go by GPA is Skagit Valley college in Mt Vernon, but they do have a waiting list which you have to have all your pre reqs done before getting on it.
