Being an international student with F1 visa, my tuition was three times higher than the in-state students. I had no money to pay for BSN and I was not going to take out a loan to pay for it; I did not have a choice because I was not qualified for FAFSA. When I started my ESL classes, and then my community college, I was lucky to be supported by my family. My family always told me to look into scholarships because they could not support me for tuitions for bachelor's degree. I finished my community college with no loan because of them. When I enrolled into nursing school, I was determined to pay only with scholarships. I applied for scholarships at https://www.marymount.edu and scholarships from the link below. I was able to get approximately $26000 in scholarships. I think this was my biggest achievement! No loan to pay for after graduation!
I suggest you look into each scholarship and look at the eligibility and due date. If you qualify for it, you apply for it! Don't forget to keep your GPA up and participate in leadership and volunteer opportunities. If you have to write an essay, motivate yourself by thinking that the essay will earn you free college education. Many organizations and generous people are willing to help students who are truly motivated. Are you motivated?
