Hello ! So I am looking into he Navy's NCP program. I would love to hear about others experiences with it. Any and all information is welcome!! I would greatly appreciate it !

Hi there!

I was accepted to the program in Dec '15 during my first year of nursing school and graduated this past May. I passed the NCLEX over the summer and went to ODS in September. I am now at Walter Reed in Bethesda on a wounded warrior unit. It's been a great program for me. When I was accepted, I recieved money every month to help pay my bills and all they required from me was my transcript every semster to show I was getting the expected grades. 6 months from graduation I contacted my detailer to discuss duty stations (they send a list with the available slots and its first come first serve). Once I graduated I let them know of the date I was taking the NCLEX and when I passed. Once I passed I commisioned and was scheduled for ODS.

ODS was not bad at all in my opinion. 5 weeks of drilling, powerpoint and learning how to be in the Navy. The PT was not difficult in the least. The hardest part was staying awake for the powerpoints all day!

At Walter Reed, I'm in the CNTP (clinical nurse transition program) for 6 months. They orient me to my assinged unit with a preceptor, transitioning between nights and days every few weeks, and then last part of the program they float us to different specialty units in the hospital to get exposure. I'm not sure if other duty stations have this kind of program, since it is one of the big three, but I love it so far.

If you have any specific questions let me know! I'll do my best to answer or find someone with information for you.

Hi there everyone!

I was wondering if you are enrolled in a concurrent program where you attend a community college and university and end up with an associate and a BSN if you can still put in a package for NCP or is it only for straight BSN programs? Any information or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
