Got accepted to RN to MSN Program at BC! Any current students? Alumni?

Published

Hello everyone. I'm currently an RN who just started working in January but I recently applied to schools to get my Master's and become a practitioner. I actually only applied to Boston College and got accepted into the RN to MSN program with FNP specialty! I'm very excited. However, I have deferred my enrollment to Fall 2010 because I plan to get at least a year of floor nursing experience on the surgical floor I'm working at (and also to save money!).

I was just wondering if there were any current graduate nursing students at BC or alumni that can tell me more about their own experience with the nursing program there. I plan to be a part-time student and work full time. I assume it will take me 3 years? Please correct me if I'm wrong.

I'm just so amazed on how I got myself in getting accepted to a nursing master's program. I graduated with a BS in another field, gone through a one-year accelerated program to receive my RN and was able to be accepted to BC's graduate program! Just wanted to let everyone know that with hard work, anything is possible and its never too late! :)

Hi,

I just saw your post. I'm a 2009 grad of BCs Master's Entry program. Send me a PM if you'd like to chat about the program.

BC grad nurse, skim 410...or anyone else who reads this... can you give me any advice about BC vs Northeastern for PNP. I am already a nurse, so I am doing traditional masters and both programs seem great. Any pros or cons for either school would be greatly appreciated... thanks!

Hi,

I can only speak to BC. I didn't apply to Northeastern's program because it was just too long for this middle aged career changer!! I don't know too much about BCs PNP program, but my PNP classmates were pretty happy. I had a couple of lectures from some of their faculty and really enjoyed them. Most of BC's clinical placements were outside of Boston, I believe. Have you spoken to anyone at BC or gone over there? I would recommend it if you haven't. I liked being at a school with a "real campus", even though I didn't spend much time there my last year. I also loved that I could park right on site-that made my life so much easier!! Obviously, you're going to choose a school based on the quality of their program, but sometimes it's the little things that can tip your deision one way or another!!

thanks! I appreciate your input :)
