Good, low cost stethoscope

I own a Littmann Classic II SE but am sort of nervous about it wandering off (I'm a first year nursing student). I thought maybe it would be prudent to purchase a lower-cost stethoscope. I've been looking at various makes, including Prestige, GRX, and even the cheaper Littmann Lightweight SE.

However, since I'm still so new to auscultating, should I avoid a tunable diaphragm? What low-cost or off-brand steths have you all found to be good to work with? I did have a Omron Sprague Rappaport, but it was too painful in the ears, and fairly quiet.

Pretty much open to anything (please bear in mind I'm also a guy, and as such, I tend to avoid pinks, purples, and overall 'cute' things)

Also, would a cheaper cardiology scope (like what GRx makes) be too much steth for a nursing student?

Thanks :D

Well I guess I'll wrap up this thread. I went to a local medical supply store today and tried out the Prestige Clinical I in Stealth finish. I was really impressed with the fit, finish, included accessories and the sound quality. The ear tips were comfortable to boot! I think I found my 'work horse' stethoscope. I'll use the Littmann for special occasions or when I graduate from school. It will be neat to have my name engraved on it with an "RN" behind it :)

Peace!
