Going to university.. change in plan

Nurses General Nursing

Published

Hi there! I have a slight problem regarding my area of study at University of Illinois at Chicago.

At first, when I applied for admission, I wanted to go into computer science. However, as time went by and a few events had taken place, I started to think about going into nursing. (Yay, male nurse. ;p)

The problem is that I'm starting in the fall but I'm on a computer science track at the moment. What should I do in order to get into nursing studies? I hear that I will need to be on a wait list. Is this correct? I have orientation in July so I might be able to take care of some of the issues.

Thank you for your time,

Are you starting your freshman year this fall? I'm assuming you are because you're 18? I don't have any specific answers as far as your school goes, but maybe you should just call the school of nursing and ask them any specific questions you may have.

I started college in 2001 and was undeclared my first year, then was a Psychology major for a year, and then switched my major to English Literature and Philosophy.... and now I'm going back to school for nursing! So let's just say I'm in awe of you for knowing what you want at 18! If you can, start volunteering at a hospital as soon as possible. You'll learn so much and it may make your application to the school of nursing more competitive as well :D

Have fun in college!!! I miss it every day! :(

Well StevenB - I don't know about Univ of I, but many schools have already accepted their max for this comming fall term. Only way to know is to call the school of nursing directly. If they are full up, then you can probably start at the university taking your basics and apply to transfer into the school of nursing from your current college for your soph yr.

Best of luck to you and enjoy the ride!
