I have an interview next week for a big tertiary care facility OR. I currently work in a small community hospital, and have been there for about 14 months. I've only been a nurse for 14 months, as well. I was surprised that I applied for a job there online on Tuesday and got a call back 2 days later! A year and a half ago, no one would even let me apply without experience. They had a Periop 101 course back then that they wouldn't even consider me for because I had never been a CNA. Even though I went through nursing school.
I am just curious what a huge O.R. department (inpatient) would expect from a circulator coming from a smaller community hospital (4 ORs).
I am excited for my interview Tuesday - if only to find out how an O.R. works in a huge medical center. But I do need to be closer to home and make more money. And robotics fascinates me...(just to name one new thing)! We definitely don't have that where I work now! I was told I'll be interviewing with a group (director, asst. director, team leads, and nurses) and then they'll show me around.
