Global Scholarship Alliance a Rip Off?

Published

Has anyone filled out the forms for the Global Scholarship Alliance?

They state that they give scholarships to prospective students. I filled out the application and submitted a resume. (takes forever).

So far Ive had lots of annoying agencies calling me for work, but not one mention of any scholarship. When I call their office the phone rings and rings, but no answer...no voicemail.

Im feeling a little scammed.

Haven't heard of this one. Let me know if u get anything from them.

Finally heard back from the GSA Scholarship Alliance. It only took them 15 days to respond.

Sounds like to me that they may give money to people who take contracts or employee with one of their agents. Not completely sure, but the "scholarship" might be in the form of a sign on bonus.

Like I said previously I got bombarded with phone calls from staffing agencies. So proceed with caution if you choose to go this route.

I reminded them today that my goal isnt employment as an RN, but to find funding for CRNA school. This is the reply that I received: "

Unfortunately, employment is part of the scholarship program. As I'm sure you know CRNA school is a full time endeavor, and due to that we cannot sponsor those programs.

We do wish you the best of luck!"

Notice the address and company name. It says "Tailored Healthcare Staffing".

for the information of other people who wants the "scholarship" they do give it.they pay for the tuition fee and they also want you to be employed in the hospital they choose.they don't rip you off they give you a better opportunity. alot of filipino nurses have been enticed to this program.

but if their intentions are not clear and up front, I would not be going for that "deal".... I call a scholarship a scholarship when you get free money to go to school w/o strings attached. A tuition waiver after signing a binding contract is just another compensation route. Now, if I was doing whatever it took to work in the US, I might be tempted.

I have found many CRNA programs will allow you to hire on after your study and then will repay your debt. However, there are lots of places also offering sign on bonuses or a higher wage that would seem to be "on par" with the opportunity to get a waiver on tuition. Also, consider that if you go for the tuition waiver deal, and you see a great deal somewhere else making much more, you have to just grin and bear it.

hey wokn,i know what you mean by that.i understand really what you mean, just to be honest, that is why i said alot of nurses in the philippines are enticed to the program because of this.in the united states you get a scholarship and there are really no strings attached to it.but for some who wants a quick resolution to get into the United States and earn the dollars that they desire, this is one of the programs you would want to get into..you are saying "rip off", does that mean that you already has gotten yourself into that situation by applying thru the program or is it just your intuition?im a bit curious really..:wink2:i am like you, i think the program is dubious..til next time...

easy on the quotes, I don't believe I said that!! heheh..luckily, I have not gotten myself into any kind of a situation like that. for example, when I was in high school, I got a few small dollar ($1000, etc) amount scholarships that were simply applied directly to my tuition in college. These were government sponsored scholarships to be reimbursed in any post secondary institution (grew up in Canada). When you have recruiters and agencies trying to "sign you up", and part of their compensation package is something called a "scholarship", I believe that in almost every case, it must be a scam. In my world, a scholarship is something achieved for high performance, or special status, that is honored by an educational institution. Simply handing a check to someone after they have given you X 1,000s of dollars in agency fees over a period of 1-5 years is more of an "enticement" rather than a scholarship, in my books. I know nothing about this global scholarship alliance, but it just sounds fishy. good luck.

thank God you are not one of those easily dragged by offers like this. yeah, there is a catch. it is not really a scam but they profitted from the so called "scholars" that they have. i have nothing against them!
