Hello all!
I'm going into my second year at Georgia Gwinnett College as a pre-nursing student with plans to start applying to nursing schools in Spring 2020. I am very concerned about my chances of admission into this program due to the requirements needed. I do not feel " competitive" at all.
I currently have a 3.37 overall GPA and 3.0 science GPA with a few courses to still complete. I am definitely hoping that I can make A's in these last few courses to raise my GPA.
In the fall I will be taking Anatomy & Physiology 1, and Chem 1152 along with my last gen. ed classes (Hist 2112 and Digital Media). I have pretty much completed everything else including Stats and my psychology classes.
In the spring, my last two classes to complete will be Anatomy & Physiology 2 and MicroBio.
I got what I call " a slightly late start" on my sciences so that is why I'm taking multiple at once. My freshman mentor told me that it was what I will need to do eventually.
I do not have a job at the moment so that I can focus on my studies. Another reason is also that my school schedule is very time conflicting. Throwing a job in the mix would not work well for me. Along with that comes the issue of not having work experience to obtain a professional reference. Will getting a weekend job or a temporary holiday job be beneficial?
I am also concerned about obtaining volunteer hours. What are some ongoing volunteer opportunities you all picked up? I've looked into multiple locations and for me, there are issues with time and specific requirements that these particular locations are looking for.
Also when will be the best time for me to take the teas?
