Getting Rid of Urine Smells

Specializes in my patients.

Hi Everyone,

I recently started my clinicals for the first time and I'm very excited, but I ended up with a problem that I didn't see coming. Because I've been giving clients bed baths in the morning, my quads brushed up against soiled bed linen and I can't seem to get rid of the urine smell. The second I came home, I stripped off my scrubs and literally ran into the shower but it's now around 6 hours later and I think I still smell. The dirty scrubs are in the washing machine, I've drenched myself in perfume, my house is filled with burning candles, I'm wearing clean clothes, and I can't seem to get rid of the urine smell. Is this smell just my imagination because I was around it this morning or is it "stuck into my skin?" Please help me!

Thank you for any advice, I just want to know what to do!

I think a lot of times it's a nose thing... I come home and even though I know there is nothing on me, the smell is there. At work, I make sure my hair is back and other items (name tags, etc.) could not get into anything... Then I usually take off my clothes ASAP and shoes (they can get a lot of junk on them), shower or wash up, put clothes in the washer, or bag them up until they can be washed, and drink some coffee or something that gets my mind away from the smell if it still bothers me. I do have one word though, FEBREZE! I use it as a short solution when I have to drive with my clothes on. I hope this helps a little...
