Getting a Course accepted for CEU's

Hi,

What exactly is the process for getting a course CEU'd. I currently teach many courses (EKG, 12 lead, cardiac meds, airway management, etc....) and would like to offer CEU's. My state does not require them and does not approve them, so what other resources do i have?

Thanks for your help and replies.

You could try your state nurse association??? I am aware that my state nurses association has a program that can be used for getting material approved for awarding CEU's. Maybe other states do as well.

Contact the American Nurse Association (www.nursingworld.org). They can either provide you with an application for approval or give you contact information on who can approve the activity for your area.

You will have to complete an application form and pay for the course. It will be approved for 2 years thru ANA, so you can offer it over and over during that 2 years. There are other professional organizations, like ENA that approve activities.

BTW - the correct terminology is "contact hours", not CEU. A CEU is worth 10 contact hours. Most providers have stopped using that term.

If you go the ANA route and need help with the application you may contact me. I am on the State CNE committee for my state.
