Getting my ADN?

U.S.A. Tennessee

Published

I am currently a senior in college with a major in health sciences. After graduation, I plan on getting my degree in nursing. I thought about going to Southwest because their ADN programs starts in the fall and spring. some things I wanted to know were what tests do I need to take? Are there any study guides for these exams? What are the scores for the exams? Is there anything else important I need to know that will help me? Any Southwest nursing students or anyone trying to get into the program can answer. Thanks!!

Southwest's nursing entrance exam is the NLN PAX-RN. You can purchase the study guide on Amazon or in the school bookstore. You have to make at least 100 on the test to qualify for entry into the program.

Also, your A&P I, A&P II, and Micro grades are weighted very heavily so do the best you can in those courses.

Good luck!

May I offer a little advice? I know that you didn't ask for this, but I would strongly urge you to look at your options for an accelerated BSN. Union University offers an accelerated program, and I'm sure there are others in the metro area. For the same investment of time and effort (but a little more money), you'll come out with your BSN instead of an ASN.

If you have no plans of going into advanced practice, management, or education down the road, it's no big deal. Still, it's a good idea to consider knocking out the BSN now rather than playing catch-up later in the event that you change your goals.
