Hi Everyone!
I recently applied to Georgetown's NM/WHNP program and Frontier's CNM program and wanted to share my experience while waiting for a decision. I'd love to hear from others. How long did it take to hear back from them? What helped or hurt your application?
Frontier CNM Application (July start) Applied: 3/12 Request for RN license: 3/14 (sent immediately, no further response yet) Application process: Online submission + emailed mission essay and transcript request form after submission
Georgetown NM/WHNP Application (September start) Applied: 3/16 Interview Invite: 3/17, completed 3/18 Application process: Online submission + emailed statement of purpose and transcripts separately after submission Recommendations: Two required, third optional (new policy). I submitted two strong letters (academic professor, clinical instructor); my third, from a midwife, was unavailable due to health reasons (she was diagnosed with breast cancer last week).
After my interview, the admissions counselor asked if I wanted to submit my application with just the two recommendations already received or wait for the third. I asked if he recommended waiting, and he explained that this is the first cycle where they're allowing applicants to submit with just two recommendations, as three were previously required. He then said I should only wait if I felt the third letter would strengthen my application, but quickly followed up with, "Not that your application is lacking." After checking in with her, I sent an email to him thanking him for his time and the opportunity to interview and letting him know that due to health-related issues, my third reference would be unable to complete the recommendation at this time and that I would like to move forward with submitting my application with the two recommendations that were already submitted. No response yet.
What I Believe Strengthens My Applications Academic: ADN (3.72 GPA), BSN in progress (4.0 GPA, graduating on 5/17) Certifications: C-EFM, C-ONQS Experience: 10+ years as a doula, 4 years as a homebirth midwifery apprentice, 9 months as an LDRP nurse (will be a year before starting either program) Leadership: Led a quality improvement project to break down hierarchical barriers in communication after a preventable neonatal demise and developed and implemented a structured OR circulation training program for LDRP nurses
Concerns & Questions 1. Most of my background is in pregnancy/birth, with less exposure to gynecologic and primary care. Has anyone with similar experience been accepted?
2. This was my first live recorded interview, which felt awkward. I was nervous and stumbled in some places, but I kept a positive tone and thought my passion came through. Has anyone felt this way in their interview and still been accepted?
3. Frontier and Georgetown said about 2-4 weeks after receiving all completed materials. How long did it take for you to hear back?
If you've applied to either program, I'd love to hear about your experience! Were you accepted, waitlisted, or rejected and given feedback for reapplying? How has the program been in terms of coursework, clinical, and work/life balance?
Appreciate any insight while I wait!

I unfortunately have no insight but recently applied to these same programs! It's been about 2 weeks for me. Have you heard anything back? I saw older posts saying some people waited almost the full 6 weeks!!

Hi!
I actually heard back from Frontier on 3/25. Unfortunately, I wasn't eligible for the Summer start since my degree won't be conferred until after their April deadline. They encouraged me to reapply for Fall, so I submitted a new application on 4/9.
As for Georgetown, my application officially moved into faculty review on 4/10. My admissions counselor told me decisions are usually made within 2–4 weeks from that point, so now I'm just waiting (and refreshing my inbox way too often!).
How's everything going with your applications? Fingers crossed for both of us!
I did my interview later in the day on 4/7 for GU and my as I told me that I should expect an email that it was moved for faculty review by the end of the week but I didn't! So I'm hoping that happens tomorrow hahah! As for Frontier, I spoke with one of their advisors as well and he said 3-6 weeks for a decision and that's all they have said since! I didn't even realize they have a Summer cohort! I'm super nervous because my undergrad GPA was not great.... But I have 3 years of experience at a busy hospital and I feel like my interview didn't go terribly. But I'm also patiently (impatiently) waiting. I've literally been reading threads from 2013 LOL. Wishing you the best of luck!
