Hello All,

Just got my ipad air for Nursing School at Carrington College Westside starting July 24! WOOT!

The last ipad threads I saw where from the beginning of the year, and nothing has been updated.

Just curious:

what are some apps you all are using?

Do you prefer stylus vs tying?

Thanks,

Good day, FutureRNZehrb2727:

I use a

Other apps that I use include, but are not limited to the following:

Amazon Kindle

Evernote

iThoughts HD

iTunes U

Pearson eText

Quizlet plus Flashcards

Scanner Pro

Thank you.

I use and have been using Notability for the last year or so in college for notes! It used to be free but I think its $3 now. Its a really popular app!

Every once in a while I would use evernote for miscellaneous notes. My professors would post the powerpoints ahead of time, so I would download and save the current powerpoint into my dropbox storage with assigned folders for each class. Then, the powerpoint would transfer to an app called CloudOn and I would open the powerpoint and type in my notes on the actual powerpoint. It was just my preference, just a suggestion. :)

Microsoft office apps are now free for the iPad as well. I use my PowerPoint app to take notes. I liked CloudOn, but it froze for extended periods of time when auto saving.

I do prefer to type instead of using a stylus to take handwritten notes though.

Good luck with school!!!

Are they free? I had tried them at first and they were free, then uninstalled because I wasn't using it, and the last time I tried using it, you had to pay for them!

Good day:

I download (or use Scanner Pro or a multi-sheet scanner) professor PowerPoints, then important them into GoodNotes for annontation and note taking. Depending on the circumstances, I'll also keep them in Evernote as well since I use Evernote on the ipad, home PC, and android phone.

Thank you.

I prefer typing it out. For things I have to write out/draw out, I'll do it on a separate piece of paper and then scan it in using this portable scanner (about the size of a big hole puncher) and add it to my notes :) Or if I'm too lazy I just take a pic

Outlook email is a definite must have. I have Amazon to buy books, Evernote is useful for notes and can sync to your Dropbox if you have one but I just use the Apple equivalent of Word (Pages), also agree with ScannerPro. iBooks, they have a ton of free books and have cheap textbooks that may be useful for you. There's this really fun game that helps reinforce basic life support called Resuscitation! not sure if it's on iPad (have not checked yet) but it is on my iPhone.

Also, I prefer typing. It's way more efficient for me.

Good day:

"Outlook email is a definite must have"

Our college uses gmail; so much for the must have of a Microsoft product ;-)

Thank you.
