I am just curious how many of you have already decided what you want to be( when you grow up) sorry couldn't resist

any way what field

how did you come about the decision

are you dead set on it

what is your absolute under no circumstances will you ever touch that line of nursing

for me it is either prison nurse

or psychiatric nurse

I am pretty solid on my decision

I will never work in ob field ever,I have four healthy lovely children and could not live with the thought that I would be taking care of a child that may not live or their mother did something to damage them for the rest of their life.I would never be able to sleep

I absolutely, positively want to be a CRNA. Before that, I will be working in a Medical/Surgical ICU (I already work there as a student and will just stay after I graduate.

The only thing I could never do as a nurse would be psych. I absolutely hated psych clinical!!!

Hmm..I am 27 years old and graduate in 6 months and I still don't know what I want to be when I grow up.

Here's what I DO know:

I want to get paid the MOST for the LEAST amount of hours (PRN, anybody!?)

I do NOT want to work on a med-surg floor nor deal with patients that are never going to get well/geriatrics/nursing homes.

My list goes on...

I'm hoping to find my niche in leadership and community nursing next semester.

why did you become a nurse

I am sorry but if you are in it for just the money you have to realize that it is people you PT's that pay your pay check and not to bother you with the medocre BS is not why most nurses become a nurse

Don't ban me but that comment cut too close to the problems I have seen. Most of the reasons that I have become a nurse is because of nurses that have had that attitude

Specializes in ICU-Stepdown.

I really hope you find other challenges besides just the paycheck. Otherwise, its not going to be a very fulfilling job.

I have a good job now that pays well. If money were a issue, I would stay where I am. Money will not make a darn if you aren't totally enjoying what you do in life.

I know that i want to go into Forensic nursing, because i know that i want to go to med school to become a pathologist. However, i have to see if i can actually stand all the blood and guts stuff....but i'm pretty sure that i can. Wish me luck!!!:)

Sorry, guys, I was just being sarcastic (my srustrations with nursing school coming out.)

I have another job that I like very much and I hope to do prn nursing to supplement that income, that's all. If I was just in it for the money and only the money, I would have been gone a long time ago.

I'm just saying that I would prefer to be on the business end of things. Not every nurse is cut out to be a hospital staff nurse. There are many options in this field and I have not found my niche, that's all.

My apologies if I had offended anyone.
