A Heads Up

  1. Does anyone have suggestions of any sort of preparation that I should do before nursing school starts. I'm finishing up all of my preqs. but I was wondering if there might be anything else I could do to better prepare myself?

If you haven't done so already take a medical terminology course or buy a book on medical terminology. I currently work in health insurance & had to learn med. term for my job, but it has helped me immensely in my studies. In anatomy and physiology I am finding that I know a lot of the terms or can figure out what they mean already.

    Good luck!

Don't know how long you have until you start the nursing courses, but if possible can you take a CNA course? A lot of the basic skills you will learn there will help you later, when you have to start clinicals. I was a CNA for 2 years, and the experience has helped me so much in my nursing program. (2nd semester ADN)

If that is not possible for you, maybe you can become a volunteer at a local hospital.

    Good luck!
