Totally Frustrated

  1. Hi everyone,

I am now preparing to take the NCLEX-RN again for the third time. This has become very frustrating for me and sometimes I feel like giving up on my life long dream to become an RN. If anyone out there has some advise for me, it would be much appreciated. Thank you.

Make sure you are reading the questions carefully. By that, I mean find the answer that is appropriate to the key words in the question.

If they ask what would your first assessment be... make sure it is an assessment answer. For example, listen to lung sounds or call the doctor. Calling the doctor may seem more appropriate for the question, but they are asking for an assessment answer. There is usually a key word in the question as to what they are looking for...assessment, intervention, first thing, etc. Does this make any sense?

I had a lot of delegating questions. Know what the scope is for the person you are delegating to. Good luck!

I would agree with the previous post too. However, I also totally believe that when you take boards/tests, that your first instinct is prob right and you do not want to sit there and dwell on the question too long. Once you have chosen your answer, hit the enter button twice and move on to the next one. Often, we try to second guess ourselves and change to the wrong answer!

Good luck to you and keep us posted!
