RN BSN to...? Did you pursue a different degree?

Hi all! I'm an RN BSN with a little over a years experience in the hospital. Lately I've been wanting to go back to school but I am stuck as to what for. I don't see myself working at the bedside for the rest of my career but at the same time am not exactly sure on what I'd like to go for. NP, management and/or something like informatics don't appeal to me. I was wondering if there are any BSNs out there who have gone for a second bachelors or even masters in a different field for example like RN who got a Masters in SLP. I would appreciate any insight :) Perhaps it'll help me think a little more about what i would like to do moving forward. Also do you regret the switch of careers/studying another field? Thank you so much in advance

I think you are wise to think about the type of work you want to do for a while before jumping into something too quickly. I have seen many people make the mistake of rushing to graduate school - and then graduate with a degree that doesn't qualify them for a job they really want. So they end up being unhappy ... or going back to school again. Their student loans get bigger, but they don't get happier.

Can you identify some aspects of nursing that appeal to you more than others? Or maybe identify some aspects of nursing that you know you really hate and don't want to do in the future? Are there certain types of patient populations that interest you? .... or maybe role functions that you enjoy doing more (or less) than others?

Reflecting on such questions might help move you in the direction of figuring out a career direction for the next few years.
