questions about Healthcare

Nurses General Nursing

Hello,

I just started working with a new company putting me in an environment I have never been in before. I have mostly dealt with technical people and am now dealing with Healthcare types. I am from Phoenix So all to all the Phoenix People HELLO OUT THERE. I have some quick questions. I want to make everyone I work with's life easier. So if you could give me some insight it would be wonderful.

Are there any headaches in Scheduling of nursing peronel that need to be dealt with and how can they be dealt with?

When being hired into a new company through an agency or not, what do you like to see and not like to see.

In general what around you dealing with other people or a new environment needs to be looked at.

Do you prefer to move around a lot between different units or do you like to stay with one Unit?

I really appreciate any information you can give me on these toppics.

Thanks in advance

Rico

Wow, congrats on your new job!! I wish you the best of luck! First off, lets deal with scheduling. There are always scheduling issues. Not enuf staff, staff wanting time off, etc. Where I work they have a system to fill in the kinks, they book extra staff in case of late sick calls, no shoes, etc. That way you are not left without staff at shift change.

As for moving from unit to unit, most Nurses will tell you if they don't mind floating. Personally I like having a home base, I feel I give better care with familiarity of surroundings and my patients. But again, this is a personal preference.

Introduce yourself to as many people as you'll be working with as possible. It's always nice to put a face to a name. You never mentioned if you were working in a big multi-disciplinary hospital, or a smaller nursing home kind of setting. Either way, best of luck!

Cheers!
