I threw my hands up tonight. The same lady with the cheese thing... I literally got my butt kicked by this patient for two nights because he was having terminal restlessness and was so very, very combative. The first night he almost snapped my right wrist and I came home with red marks from my knuckles to the elbows. The second night he squeezed my left hand so bad my wedding band indented into my pinky and I still had the marks 5 hours later. So, I basically told the family, we need to medicate to sedate. Someone is going to get seriously hurt if we don't, so they agreed. I started an Ativan drip, took me 6 and a half hours to get to the proper dose to get him settled. (Hospice rule 101, start low and go slow) So, ofcourse by the time I left he was finally settled. The night nurse came on and repostition him with pillows and turned him to his side. All I heard about tonight from the family is what an angel the night nurse was and how she really had the magic touch with the patient. ROFLMAO. I told her tonight, she owes me a dinner for that one,

She should take you to the RITZ after the hell you endured!!:yeah:

or how about a great big carton of cool whip? :D i had a roommate once who would eat an entire bowl of the stuff everytime she'd get really frustrated or when things didn't go as expected.

oh my god...a whole tub of raw cookie dough. they've started selling the stuff instead of those little slice-and-bake things that look like sausages. i prefer to make the cookies from scratch, myself, but the dough makes a great snack haha
