Upon graduation from a nationally accredited school of nursing, one sits for the NCLEX ..a national test. After passing, one can apply to any state for a registration. Each registration carries a fee to get and a fee to continue it year after year. In addition, each state decides what continuing education is needed to maintain licensure in that state. One can hold a license for many states at one time as long as the requirements for each state is made. Also, each state has a board of nursing that dictates through legislation what the scope of practise is for each type of nursing license.
Hope this isnt too confusing.

Quick question for everyone. I live in Oregon and am going to be starting nursing school in 2003. I was wondering if I went to school in Washington would I have to take additional classes, tests, fees to work in Oregon? Thanks!!!
