Holding me back from Nursing

I'm good at everything, except explaining! I have a serious problem with stuttering. It's holding me back! I have A.D.D and some right brain damage. I constantly rephrase and have a hard time thinking in my head. I am very good at critical thinking, but when I use critical thinking to solve problems, I don't think in words, it's like my mind is blank or I visualize but I still know how to solve it.

I replace words with wrong words. When I try to think in my head or explain to myself in my head, I have the exact same problems as I do when talking aloud, including stuttering. I don't know, but this problem I have mostly has to do with not knowing how to put words into a clear sentence, not knowing what words to use.

I can type well, and explain math well on the internet, but thats cause I have time to type and then rephrase.

MOST OF ALL REPHRASING SINCE I REALLY CANT THINK IN HEAD

THIS HAPPENS WITH WRITING AND TYPING TOO.

Or like, I'll say this first: The uretha is connected to bladder. The uretha, its for "here comes blank mind" , the urine exits,"finally getting to point" it leaves the body through the uretha.

"CONSTANT REPHRASING =("

ill use, "into the lungs and then the blood gets filled with oxygen, and then, ,goes to the left side of the heart, and then the left side pumps it into the aorta.(i use and then alot because idk how else to explain, and i get confused with basic words like "into" "through" "passed" even though I looked up definition. which word do i use, is "into a correct word to use"

I don't know about the right brain damage.... But I do know I have severe ADD. I visualize concepts as well and usually have about 5 things going through my head at a time. During nursing school I found the only way I could read the text book was to read the chapter back to front, starting at the last paragraph and working my way back. You can do it if you put your mind to it!

Yea, I'm a visual learner too, it's weird that I can visualize even though half of my right head is gone, which is visualization lol and I kind of don't know why but I have to visualize an image in order to explain, or see it written on a page, and that causes me to stutter. THANKS for encouraging me

Hey, why did you read it from back to front lol

Well with ADD it is hard for me to concentrate on any topic for any length of time. Since nursing textbooks are written to build upon a thought, and flesh it out, my mind saw it as one long continued thought. As such my mind would shut down and I could not read past a couple paragraphs.... Let alone keep any of the information. By reading back to front, it broke up the thought into separate ideas. This I could handle. Small different ideas my brain could process... one long thought it couldn't. Hope it helps!

Have you ever worked with a speech therapist as an adult? Many children receive speech therapy services in schools, but arent able to follow up as adults or after they test out. If you are a nurse now and work in a hospital, maybe you could consult with the hospital based speech language pathologist. If not talk to your physician about your concerns and how you feel the differences in your brain are holding you back.
