Galen College of Nursing Louisville

I attended Galen last year (very VERY sadly) had to move but I know when I was looking for nursing schools I scoured the internet for hours looking for suggestions so I thought I'd do someone a favor and save them the scouring like I had to haha.I attended Galen and LOVED it... I've been to three different universities so far in my educational career (army husband, gotta love those almost yearly moves, ugh) I have never once loved a school. I've respected them, hated them, or was indifferent but Galen was different.

PROS:

The program's structure is phenomenal! No where else have I seen such a short timeline for such difficult degrees.

Prerequisites are included into the program,

No entrance testing, no waitlists. So its not ridiculously competitive to get into.

The class sizes are small and intimate and even my least favorite professor was always willing to go above and beyond to help. We even had janitors and professors come in on weekends and stay late just unlock labs for us to study.

The facilities are clean and updated.

Location is great because its right off the highway.

NCLEX pass rate was around 96% when I was attending in 2016.

One of the winning factors as to why I attended is I had to go to the ER one day for a sprained ankle... I asked each nurse who took care of me that nice where they went to school 3/4 went to Galen and all of them said that they were offered jobs... they didn't even have to job hunt because the school makes great connections during clinicals.

CONS:

CRAZY expensive... I mean like $3,000 a QUARTER! Last I checked their ADN program alone costs around $45,000... but like I said you get it in only two years flat.

Extremely difficult, the entire college believes in NO study guides, its against school policy. So its alot of "learn on your own" however like I said the professors are willing to help if you ask. I believe only 60% of my first quarter classmates passed both A&P lecture and lab.

I really do miss this school, I'm currently living in Hawaii and the programs here are terrifyingly competitive... (400-600 people applying for only 20-50 slots!) If you can swing the costs I absolutely recommend this college!
