Finding the right path

Nurses General Nursing

To make a long story short I began my college education as a nursing student, into my second year I had to leave the program only because of chemistry. I took chemistry four times only to get a C-. I was heart broken because of this, one class and my future dreams were taken away. So, I currently have my bachlors in psychology and I am registered to get my associates in nursing. (NO CHEMISTRY for an associates :D) My question/concern is, what can I do with a bachlors in psych and an associates in nursing. I dont want to look back and have my pschy degree wasted and I want to work with children, so how wouuld I do that? Is an associates good enough or should I go for my bachlors? Please help me to figure out if im on the right path or which one to even take. Thank you!!

It's going to depend on your area. Where I live a BSN is becoming preferred but if you can get a job with your associate's I wouldn't worry about it. Unless you plan on going into psych nursing or maybe public health I don't think your bachelor's in psych will get much notice.

Have you thought about mental health nursing? There are clinics that deal with adolescent mental health patients, teen drug addiction, teen suicide. In my area, we have comp care which runs several different half-way houses and some are for children/teens. Might be something you could utilize nursing and your psych degree. Also, in my area there is no difference in BSN or ADN. Most go to BSN if they are looking to further into a masters. Good Luck
