I'm sorry I can't give you an answer on what to do with the meds but just keep an eye out that she isn't taking those meds in addition to what she is prescribed. My friend is a correctional nurse and she says neurontin is sought after by the inmates. Apparently if you take enough you can catch a buzz. Especially in a drug rehab..some people will do anything to get high.

Ok, I know many facilities that do not return the clients medications to them if the doctor has discontinued that particular medication....For example, I work in an upscale drug rehab. The doctor discontinued a clients Gabapentin 800mg. He put her on 300 mg. So she has this full bottle. Normally clients do not make a big deal upon discharge, usually they dont even notice I'm not returning d/c'd meds...although upon admission they are told d/c'd meds will not be returned to them. THe one girl with the gabapentin said "Its my property and I want it back" the doctor had to write an order so we could return the Gaba 800 mg. What do other facilities do?
