Comfort in Chairs

Hey guys,

I am a nurse in a relatively new CVICU. We have cardiac chairs designed by Nemschoff, the Serenity II model, and our patients HATE them! They complain about their butts hurting all the time! These are patients of all different shapes and sizes, men and women, but everyone complains about them after about an hour of getting out of the bed. We have used a waffle cushion and pillows, and sometimes this helps, but usually we still get complaints. We were looking at ordering the Medline cushions to place in the chairs. Has anyone ever used these before? How did they work? Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions for our unit on how to increase patient comfort? Has anyone else had this issue with their cardiac patients, and if so, how did you resolve the issue? Lastly, does anyone have any other suggestions for better chairs. Thank you so much for your advise!
