I have been hearing a lot about people going outside the US for their health care so I started looking around the web a bit and came upon this hospital. You guys may know all about this, but I did not. I have never seen anything like this in my life. It is like a hotel. they apparently do a booming plastic surgery business there. I tried to download the link here but I could not get it to work.

I am Thai nurse. Many of my friends are working at Bumrungrad International Hospital. Many of Thai hospital look like five star hotel such as Bangkok Hospital and all staff can speak english too.

I've gone there for care many times. It's good but expensive (for Thailand). You have many options and I strongly suggest you find someone you TRUST before going to Thailand. Check out the competitors, cause they're not the only ones.

They call it LOS (land of smiles) but people who have been there call it the land of scams. It's not dangerous but bumrungrad is smack in the center of prostitution central (not one or 10 but hundreds). Not that it's a big deal there since it's legal (technically illegal but there are about a million and rarely do they drink or take drugs-they're just poor and want to care for their families and sacrifice to do so). Thailand is odd place where kids can drink, 60 year olds have 18 year old wives and drugs carry the death penalty. It's the land of opposites and it draws you in for some reason to return again and again! Learn the culture, eat what the locals eat and you'll have a ball.

If you've got the cash. Bumrungrad is nice with McDonalds and coffee shops inside...they take you and you get a photo admission card you use for everything. Be picky about the hotel for after, as well. Remember it may take as much as 35 hours to get there (depending on what state you're from). I can tell you of some decent hotels for the baht. They're super paranoid about narcotics there so address pain before they touch you. I'm certain you can just call them...remember their 12-13 hours different than EST/EDT.

I went there 5 times last year; Thailand grows on ya! If you want plastics, go on some forums that seek medical tourism. Bumrungrad is a decent (Russian?) hospital where most speak pretty good English and the nurse to patient ratio is ridiculously high-you'll get A1 care like a king. The culture is different so please, please read up on that to avoid getting in trouble (outside the hospital).

Thaivisa is a good site to ask since that's an expatriate community living there from UK, US, AUS, etc. Many of them use Bumrungrad

I still like it there, love the hospital...
