Bowel Obstruction

I thought I'd post here (for general discussion instead of school) anyway...

I want to do my project on this pt that had bowel obstruction who ended up with a "Hartman sigmoid colostomy" I found her case very interesting.

Do you think I can eek out a 10+ page report on this topic? Just wondering if there is enough info out there on this particular subject.

jdomep, you can eek out a 10 page report on ANY diagnosis if you look at the problem from a nursing viewpoint instead of a medical viewpoint.

Of course you have to discuss the medical part, but then address all the nursing issues this diagnosis/surgery raises. The patients whole body is affected by the surgery. The physical needs are numerous. The teaching/learning needs are numerous. The psychosocial needs are numerous.

See where I'm going with this?

I suggest you jot down a list of nursing problems and issues and start fleshing each out. Bet you have several pages in a hurry.
