I promised myself that I will write once I pass my exam immediately. Today on 09/7/206 I can proudly say that I passed my FNP AANP exam!! I am official. Ok, I have been a silent reader and learned so much from others who posted many valuable things such as ways to study, what to study, or even some general topics that was on the test. Well today I want to give some deep and down to earth advises to all who are sitting on the FNP exam, off course my focus will be on the AANP. I will be honest here this was my third try! And I did it this time, after almost a year post graduation. During this time, or between examinations my small family and I had major things going on: vocations, new RN Jobs, Relocation to a different state, and settling to a new job and some unfortunate difficult marital situations that almost ended in divorce but with Gods help it did not!. Ok enough with that, all what I am trying to say is this exam whether it the ANCC or the AANP is doable but it just have to be the right time with right mindset with some dedication and constant motivation even during difficult times!

I have bought almost every review that I put my hands on, I probably over studied but it was a good thing. I had the Leik review, Barkley review book with the CD, couple review books of Fitzgerald, and Amelie Holier review book with a CD. Plus I purchased a bundle of 5,000 questions (50 bundle) from Examedge.com. So without sounding a bias, I liked and benefited the most Amelie Holier, the way she presents things is so clear and easy to comprehend! I wish I bought her materials at the beginning of my studies but unfortunately I got to it right before I passed my last trial. Appsolutely Fitzgerald did help me understand but thought it actually made me more confused as she goes over more unnecessary things and her review questions in the book are way too hard and majority not representative of the most important staff that will get people to pass!. Leik was an excellent resource! And If I had focused it alone it would have probable did it! It is just the best and the questions in the back are worded or has sentences that resemble what one would expect in a board exam! So if I would give a letter grade to all the things I have studied, probably they all gave me a cumulative understanding and helped reinforce my areas of knowledge deficit.

Amelie Holier and the Leik review get an A”

Barkley Associates review with his new question and answers book get a B”

Exam Edge get like either a B or B minus

And Fitzgerald gets a C

So I am sorry for this long post but I think overall you need to really study hard, these review they tell you to study common things but in the actual exam you are being asked some that are not straight forward or are general/common hot topics, I though there were many that are very specific/diseases that are not very common! So my recommendation to you is study anything do not think, that something of lesser importance might not be on the test, because it will. Good luck to all of you and just breathe and don't forget to exercise regularly and use good study habits.
