GCU nur 207 / com 270 *warning* *scam*

I applied this spring for the Summer Start Fast-track at St. Joe's with Grand Canyon University (GCU) and was accepted. When I applied I was told by my enrollment counselor, Todd Sass, that if I had not already taken COM 270 (aka NUR 207 at GCU) the previous semester that it would have to be taken at GCU. I am a second degree student who was lacking that class so I opted to take it at GCU in order to be eligible for the program. I ended up meeting a girl two days ago on this website that was also in my St. Joe's class for the summer who is in COM 270 at PVCC. I called the enrollment counselor manager at GCU and learned that it is NOT their policy that COM 270/NUR 207 had to be completed the prior semester and I would have been fine to take the class at PVCC this semester as long as it was completed by the time GCU began in May.

Bottom line, I paid $2000 to take NUR 207 at GCU when its equivalent, COM 270, was available at Paradise Valley Community College (PVCC). This is a difference of $1800 that my husband and I had to pay out of pocket because I was also told by my enrollment counselor, Todd Sass, that I could not get a student loan for it or do a payment plan. When I spoke with the enrollment counselor manager at GCU she apologized for the counselor's misinformation and said he felt terrible but at this point she could not do anything and my only option was to file an appeal with her superiors but that nothing would probably come of it.

I was was weary at first of for-profit schools but was excited about GCU's program at St. Joe's as I had heard good things. I am finding it hard to trust a school that either is not informed enough on their policy or manipulative enough to get more money out of students. Anyone else have any thoughts on this? I am so angry and confused and not mention sick about the $$$.

Hopefully this will help people for the future: NUR 207 / COM 270 CAN be taken at PVCC in their 8wk Spring class!
