Gateway Block III Summer Class

Published

Hello, I am posting for a friend.

She finished her LPN program in May'14. She just submitted her application and asked to be placed in the summer class.

She wanted to know what the schedule is like. Online the days and hours for theory and lab are posted. But she also wanted to know when SIM and Clinicals are. Are they on weekends, weekdays, does SIM and clinicals fall within the same week, etc. How many SIM days and clinical days are there.

She is currently working and has 2 kids and wanted to pick her work schedule in advance and also let her babysitter know when she will need her.

If anyone knows, please let me know. Thank you.

Is the gateway that is part of the MCCCD schools? If so, it is near impossible to know when clinical will be until she is assigned a group, which can be as late as the first week of class. Clinical can be either week day or weekend. In block 3 she will have 3 weeks of OB, 3 weeks of Peds, and 3 weeks of med/surg 2. She could end up having a different day for each one and even a different facility for each one. SIM lab will usually be on a day the week before or the week of the first clinical for each of the 3 rotations to go over skills for that rotation. She should be able to work, but her work will need to be flexible. I go to a different MCCCD school, and the schedule is definitely wonky as they fit in 4 separate cohorts through the week with CLA, practicum, tests and so on.

Yes it is gateway in phx. Thank you. Yes she wanted to know how many days of the week would be dedicated to school. It seems like a hectic schedule, but it isnt so horrible. Do you have any tips for her.

Thanks again. we really appreciate it
