Today I spoke with an admission counselor over the phone. I had previously spoken with someone from TCN. I felt that TCN was kind of shady and I may not be able to get everything by just studying so I can "test out" of courses. Also, I wanted ACTUAL class credits for my pre req's and general ed. The counselor from ISU told me that I could obtain all my pre req's from an actual college. Ivy Tech Community College is based out of Indiana and their classes transfer easily into ISU's program. Going the community college route is going to be cheaper and a guaranteed credit, but it will take a bit longer depending on your personal schedule.
So my plan is: finish my pre req's/general ed courses at Ivy Tech (all online!), then get ready for the nursing program at ISU. I was told to go ahead and apply to ISU and ISU's nursing program, they view everyone's case (pre req's, qualifications, etc.) individually. So once they review my case they can suggest what I need to get done, as far as finishing the general education (I have attended some oddball classes at my local community college).
Looking for any other interested LPNs wanting to start at Ivy Tech this summer/fall!
