OK, I am all new to this, I just have a couple of questions. I go to school at Florida State Collage in Jacksoville Florida. I am planning to apply for the Spring Program in January 2013. So the due date is right around the corner. My questions is those of you that have gotten acceptted at FSCJ for the RN program what is the minimum points they will accept for this program. I will be taking the NAT test next week. So I am very nervous about it. I am hoping that I will do well. I have been studying my butt off for a couple of months now, I have been using the "Master The Nursig School & Allied Health Entrance Exam book the 18th Edition by Peterson. So just wondering if that is a good book to go by. Please anyone outthere that could help me out I will really appreciate it. Thanks alot in advance....

Hey, I just applied for Sping 2013 :) They say that the minimum to be considered is 120 points. However after doing some research, generally each semester the cutoff was between 194-203 points. Hope that helps.

I hand delivered my application to the nursing office at FSCJ this past Tuesday, which was the day after I took the NAT test. I was nervous as could be before taking the test, however, I felt relief after completing the first section. After dreading the test basically all year, I finally opened the same Peterson book you had and became even more nervous.
In the end, I simply took the test, not really having studied. I had looked at a couple of sections in the book and found them to be more in depth than anything I had previously leared - especially the science section. The result - my best score was actually in science - my raw score was 70 out of 90. So - it is a test and it deserves your best consideration - but try not to over think it - just answer the questions.
It is a fast paced test, so move swiftly. Do not linger too long on "any" one question.
Good luck.
thank you so much :)
@ LPNnowRNhopefull do you think that I wasted my times with studying with that book. So the questions on the NAT exam aren't even as similar or close to as the exam have. I think I will be fine. I feel confident with how I did on the study book I have. So hopefully I will score high. I will let you guys know how I did next week when I take my exam. Thanks again for all your help!!
@ DIAMONDPRM - I believe you have done well for yourself to have studied. My observation about the NAT test is that I really dreaded the test because of the unknown. Now being post-test, I can say that the test was not as hard as I expected and I am no genius.
In the end, if you are a decent test taker in general, you will do great on this test. But make no mistake about it, the time alotted during the test is barely enough to actually read the question once. So you must be able to answer the question after reading it once and then move on.
As time dwindles - answer everything. It does not count against you.
Find a way to settle your nerves and you will succeed!
