I need some help. Having been in surgery for so long, this is not making sense to me. I appreciate all responses:(.
If you have a target MHPPD of 7.5, what would be the staffing matrix you would use for a unit that has an average daily census of 18?
Thanks.

Each full time person is "1". Someone who works 20 hours a week is "0.5". So you could have 7 full time and 1 part-time person. Salaries are not the consideration here. Your job is to figure out the mix that is required for an absolute minimum staff, then add to it as you can. For instance, if you need a unit clerk, CNA and 5 FT nurses, then you can add one part-time nurse. But if you can get by without the Unit Clerk you could add another CNA or nurse.
