Hello everyone!
I have the opportunity to apply for a position with Fresenius. It's an RN position for home PD but I would be based out of the clinic unless there are new pts that need training. From what I understand, it sounds almost more like case management: education, home visits as needed, meeting with a team to update charts, ensuring tx is effective, etc. I also would have a full week of call every 4-5 weeks, though the person I spoke with said it's mostly things that are handled over the phone as the home pts are very knowledgeable about their tx.
I have 2 yrs med/surg/inpt rehab experience as an lpn, 2 yrs ltc as cna, and my rn experience is 1 yr med/surg/er as well as almost 2 yrs home health with multiple handicapped, trach, vented, gt/jg tubes pediatric clients (I spend my whole shift with 1 client, not going from home to home). I am a ft employee but have been working 48-60hrs/week since March, night shift, 2 wknds/month and 8 or 12 hr shifts. I'd need to replace my current income of approximately $30/hr and have the option of decent family coverage for a reasonable cost if needed. I'd also like to cut down on my hours and work a more regular ft schedule. I live in Mn, if that matters for pay. I also would love to eventually travel.
Does anyone currently work for Fresenius that can give me some advice on whether it's a decent job, what skills should I brush up on, salary position worth it or work a lot of hours, call for a full week???, is pd in demand for traveling or is it mainly acute/inpt/hd, etc. I know fresenius has a travel program itself. Does anyone have experience with this? I'll ask in the travel forum as well.
Thank you for any and all advice you can give me! I'm interested in dialysis but want to make sure I know more of what to expect before I apply.
