Hello all! I just graduated from my LPN program on august 6 of this year. I'm studying with Hurst Review (core content) and take boards 9/19. In addition, I'm enrolled in an LPN to RN bridge but need to be successful to continue the bridge which is a one shot deal. I'm having multiple panic attacks during this last week of study before boards. My school had a 100% pass rate last year and so far everyone that I know that has taken it has passed. Any words of wisdom or advice as I am FREAKING OUT! Thank you and God Bless.
PS. Can anyone tell me about their experience with Hurst?

Flashcards! Tons of them! Use rubber bands to organize them into different categories.. example: pharmacology, med-surg, pediatrics, mother-infant, geriatrics, diabetes, mental disorders, etc. I failed my first attempt at nclex pretty badly, second time I used flashcards and passed with 90 questions.. it was so much easier for me! :)

STOP! That's my word of wisdom.
Hurst is great for content review. You'll always her Marlene's voice coaching you through. If you just recently finished school you should have the content portion down, I'd say focus on questions. Believe it or not this is reviewing as well. Always read the rationale, correct or not. If there is one particular area of weakness go to your content for that.
Do what you can and don't forget to breath! You'll do well!
The NCLEX is a very important exam in our lives and you should very well see it as that but I don't believe it's the monster they make it out to be.
Good luck!

A piece of advice that was given to me which I found intriguing was to simply not study AT ALL. And this advice came from mangers and directors of the hospital where I did my nurse residency program. They had said that either "you know it or you don't!" This advice, of course, was daunting as how could I NOT study?!?! But it did help me to relax, not stress out, and trust in myself. I did practice questions (most any will do; there are many types of NCLEX prep books, etc.) to keep my mind fresh until the "big day." I did not study the day prior... I got a massage and pedicure instead so as to relax my body and mind. This helped to put me in the right frame of mind when taking the test as I was not stress out and exhausted, but fresh, calm, and relaxed and able to think clearly. Each of us has our own little study tips and tricks that help us best, as well as ways to de-stress. Just do whatever it is that works best for you :) Good luck, and I'm sure you will do great!!!
