Nursing school needed
The Arizona Republic
May. 17, 2008 12:00 AM
It's no secret that Arizona and the nation are in the midst of a nursing shortage.
Arizona's supply is significantly below the national average.
There were 681 registered nurses per 100,000 population last year. The national average was 825, according to the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services.
The American Association of Colleges of Nursing says that the shortage is expected to worsen as health-care needs grow with aging baby boomers.
Making the problem more daunting is the difficulty of nursing colleges to increase enrollment to meet the demand.

So, does anyone have info ont his program? Is it the same as the Baptist Hospital one? Is the 2-year including or excluding pre-req's....those are some of the questions I have.
I'm not sure that they have even acquired approval from the board of nurses yet... so that would be the first step and then they will have more answers. But be sure to keep your ears peeled for more information!
OK, so the program will not be starting until atleast April of '09. All of the pre-req's are required in advance and this will be a tuition based academic program unlike the Baptist health program although they did take over that program already. It sounds like some of the pre-req's are different so I am waiting for a list from the Director. She will be emailing it to me. I will see how this compares to Everest for me as my plan is to go to school at the end of 2009 or beginning of 2010.
